Say jawohl to Vienna!
Austria's capital city and the seat of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Vienna is a beautiful holiday retreat with so much to see and do.
Although the city has a number of historical landmarks that help define it as one of the cultural hearts of Europe, the two most famous are arguably the Hofburg Palace and the Prater wheel. Originally a medieval castle and located in the centre of the city, the palace became the family home of Austria's most famous royal family and features a number of tourist attractions including the National Library, the Imperial Treasury and a number of museums that hint at days gone by.
Located in Vienna's famous fairground, the Prater wheel was around long before the London Eye and has even featured in the Orson Well's classic, The Third Man.
Taking a trip on this baby will allow you to bask in the splendour of the city from over 200ft.
Incidentally, your trip to Vienna is the perfect time to stock up on one of the country's many confectionary delights, known as Mozart Chocolate, or Mozart's balls - a combination of chocolate and marzipan that is hard to beat. Delicious.
Vienna is one of the great imperial cities with an exciting twentieth century gloss that makes it an ideal short break city with fine hotels, the world famous Opera and great architecture.
